I didn't live in New York City 20 years ago, but I lived in lower Manhattan shortly after for the majority of my career. I walked by ground zero on the way to and from my subway stop twice a day, every day. It was a constant daily reminder of that horrific tragedy. As routine as my walk became year after year, I always felt a sense of sorrow deep in the pit of my stomach as I walked by that gaping hole down a narrow dusty path with only a wire fence separating us. In some ways, I can't believe it's been 20 years. In others, I can't believe it's not more. To all those that lost loved ones that day, and the days that followed, I will never forget. ❤️⁠
